Pubs

Hospitality Databases hold records for over 50,000 pubs in the UK. This figure does not include bars.

Each pub is classified as managed, tenanted or freehold (independently owned). With the evolving nature of the current pub market, it is difficult to accurately quantify the exact number of pubs by type.

Hospitality Databases estimate that the pub market is split as follows:

Freehold       13,000
Managed      12,000
Tenanted      25,000

Of the 37,000 managed and tenanted pubs, over 13,500 are owned by the national and family breweries and over 22,300 by the six major pub companies – Admiral Taverns, Enterprise Inns, Mitchells & Butlers, Punch Taverns, Trust Inns and Wellington Pub Company.

Pubs with rooms to let

A second category under the pub market sector is pubs with letting rooms.

Hospitality Databases currently lists over 6,000 pubs as pubs with paying accommodation, with room numbers from one upwards.

Not included in this list are any pubs affiliated to Premier Inn, Travelodge or where a holding company has classified their pub as a hotel.
